Mike Beasley, Board Member
Mike Beasley founded 5280 Strategies, a government and public affairs firm, specializing in energy, general business, economic development, and state budget issues in 2009.
Mike has worked as a lobbyist for over twenty-five years for a diverse clientele including the Littleton and Cherry Creek Public Schools, Colorado Sheriffs Association, the Land Title Association of Colorado, Colorado Association of Home Builders, the Colorado Association of Realtors, and the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association.
Immediately preceding 5280 Strategies, Mike served as Xcel Energy’s Regional Director for Government Affairs in Colorado and New Mexico, taking a leading role in shaping Colorado’s “New Energy Economy."
Mike has extensive experience with public policy at every level of government. He has served as a member of Governor Owens’ cabinet as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative Affairs. As a member of the Governor’s senior staff, Mike was responsible for formation and implementation of the Governor’s policy and legislative objectives.
Mike Beasley has been named to the Denver Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list, is a past Chairman of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry’s Energy and Environment Committee and has made the “Influencers 500” list by Campaigns and Elections Magazine. Active in his community, Mike has served on numerous boards including the Colorado Community College Foundation, Volunteers of America, and the Five Star Education Foundation.
Mike graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado and is a fourth generation native of Colorado. Mike and his wife Gina live in Morrison and have two grown daughters.
